Classical Conditioning (Pavlovian Conditioning)

A process in which one event reliably predicts another event, creating an automatic emotional or physical response.

For example, when you pick up your dog's leash (neutral event), it reliably leads to a walk (meaningful event). Over time, the leash itself becomes a predictor of walks, causing your dog to get excited anytime you touch it.

Classical conditioning is a powerful tool for helping fearful or reactive dogs build positive associations. It is often used alongside desensitization to gently change how a dog feels about something that worries them.

In the app, Classical Conditioning goals, also known as comfort goals, are represented with a party popper icon.
