Your Dog will learn to weave under your legs while you take large steps forward, responding to a hand signal and the verbal cue 'Weave'.

Training steps

  1. Lure nose under your leg

    Setup: Your Dog is nearby.

    With Your Dog on either side of you, take a large step forward with the leg opposite to where Your Dog is standing, then use a treat to lure their nose under your leg and reinforce them there.

    Success: Your Dog puts nose under your leg.

    Advance on: 4 of 5 successes

  2. Lure head under your leg

    Setup: Your Dog is nearby.

    With Your Dog on either side of you, take a large step forward with the leg opposite to where Your Dog is standing, then use a treat to lure their head under your leg and reinforce them there.

    Success: Your Dog puts head under your leg.

    Advance on: 4 of 5 successes

  3. Lure under your legs 1 step at a time

    Setup: Your Dog is nearby.

    With Your Dog on either side of you, take a large step forward with the leg opposite to where Your Dog is standing, then use a treat to lure them under your leg. Reinforce them in a forward-facing position as they come out the other side, ready to weave under the other leg.

    Success: Your Dog weaves.

  4. Large hand signal

    Setup: Your Dog is nearby.

    Take a large step forward, guide Your Dog under your leg with an empty hand, and reinforce from the other hand.

  5. Small hand signal

    Setup: Your Dog is nearby.

    Take a large step forward and point to the side you want Your Dog to be on after they go under your leg.

    Success: Your Dog weaves.

  6. Take 2 steps per treat

    Setup: Your Dog is nearby.

    Take a large step forward and point to the side you want Your Dog to be on. Repeat with the other leg right after, then reinforce Your Dog.

  7. Take 3 steps per treat

    Setup: Your Dog is nearby.

    Take 3 steps before reinforcing Your Dog.
